THE ENIGMA OF "I" | YOU ARE A STRANGE LOOP
A video that takes a simplified look at the enigma of consciousness of "I," the architecture of self
The most interesting service of this video is the thoughts provoked, orbiting around the thesis. It's easy listening that touches on terms of "I, the illusion" which in fact does not mean it does not exist. Consciousness is not what, it is how? The shift from one level of abstraction to another, a paradoxical feedback loop is explained. He speaks about coping with the grief of a lost loved one and how he rationalizes that she doesn't cease to exist. Michael Beam explains different aspects that give ways to thoughts to ponder. Hoft explains consciousness as two levels of being, the everyday experience of ourselves, and the biological form that we occupy simultaneously. In the end, we are a result of chemical reactions, a dance we play inside the cranium.
"Poised midway between the unvisualizable cosmic vastness of curved spacetime and the dubious, shadowy flickerings of charged quanta, we human beings, more like rainbows and mirages than like raindrops or boulders, are unpredictable self-writing poems — vague, metaphorical, ambiguous, and sometimes exceedingly beautiful." - Douglas R. Hofstadter
